Video #4: Transferring the Domain to Blogger (Blogger Side - Not GoDaddy Side)


TRANSFERING THE DOMAIN NAME (Part 4/4)
(from Blogger Side -- NOT GoDaddy Side)

 
STEP #0: Getting to the Settings Tab

Open Blogger.com

Enter User Name/Password

Select Blog (that you want to convert into a Site)
>> Click on Down Arrow (to left of “View Blog” button)
>> Select “Settings” from Dropdown Menu


STEP #1: Changing the Domain (Blogger Side)
(Note: Go to GoDaddy and point domain
toward Blogger URL before doing this step.)

Under “Publishing” Section
>> Click “+ Add a Custom Domain”
>> Click “Switch to advanced settings”

Under “Advanced Settings”
>> Type Domain Name beside “http://”
>> Click “Save” button


STEP #2: Setting your 301 Redirect

>> Under “Publishing” Section
>> Click “Edit” (Look for your domain)
>> Check Box “Redirect site.com to www.site.com.”
>> Click “Save” button

STEP #0: Getting to the Layout Screen

Open Blogger.com

Enter User Name/Password

Select Blog (that you want to convert into a Site)
>> Click on Down Arrow (to left of “View Blog” button)
>> Select “Layout” from Dropdown Menu


STEP #1: Removing the Blog Marks on Posts

Go to “Blog Posts” Gadget and Click “Edit”
>> Un-Check ALL BOXES
>> Scroll to bottom and Click “Save” button


STEP #2: Removing the Needless Blog Gadgets

Go to “Followers” Gadget and click “Edit”
>> Click on “Remove” button
>> Click “OK” to verify removing this Gadget

Go to “About Me” Gadget and click “Edit”
>> Click on “Remove” button
>> Click “OK” to verify removing this Gadget

Go to “Blog Archive” Gadget and click “Edit”
>> Click on “Remove” button
>> Click “OK” to verify removing this Gadget

Click on “Save Arrangement” button on upper-right

MODIFYING HTML IN BLOGGER (Part 2/4)


STEP #0: Getting To the HTML Code

Open Blogger.com

Enter User Name/Password

Select Blog (that you want to convert into a Site)
>> Click on Down Arrow (to left of “View Blog” button)
>> Select “Template” from Dropdown Menu

Click “Edit HTML” button (just below sample picture)

Click “Proceed” button


STEP #1: Changing the Logo on the Browser Tab
(Removing the Orange “Blogger” Logo)

Find the following text:
COPY THIS TEXT:  <title><data:blog.pageTitle/></title>

Use “Find” command (Ctrl-F)

Paste Text (Ctrl-V) in the Find Area

The Text will now be highlighted.

Go to end of that line and hit “Enter” key 2 times

COPY THIS TEXT:  <link href='http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/yy179/GUSMAUPIN/interenet%20explorer/ie/internet-explorer-logo_06231434-1.jpg' rel='shortcut icon' type='image/vnd.microsoft.icon'/>

PASTE that text in that space you created.


STEP #2:  Removing the Blogger Header
(Removing the “Report Abuse” on the top part of site)

COPY THIS TEXT:  #navbar-iframe {display: none !important;}

Scroll to “/* Variable Definitions”
(just below Blogger Template Heading Section)

Hit the “Enter” key 2 times. (to create space)

PASTE that text in that space you created.

CHANGING THE BLOGGER TEMPLATE (Part 1/4)



STEP #0: Getting to the Customized Template

Open Blogger.com

Enter User Name/Password

Select Blog (that you want to convert into a Site)
>> Click on Down Arrow (to left of “View Blog” button)
>> Select “Template” from Dropdown Menu

Click on “Customize” button


STEP #1: Selecting Your Preferred Template

Click on either Dynamic Views, Simple, Picture Window, etc.

Under each of these, there will be other possibilities.
>> Click on each to see which you want.
>> Select Preferred Template
>> Click “Apply to Blog”


STEP #2: Selecting Background

Click on “Background” (upper left side)

Under “Background Image”
>> Click on down arrow
>> Select Different Categories
>> Under each Category, Click Picture
>> Select Preferred Background
>> Click “Done”
>> Click “Apply to Blog”


STEP #3: Selecting Blog Layout

Click on “Layout” (upper left side)

Select 1, 2, or 3 Column structure

Click “Apply to Blog”


STEP #4: Adjust Your Blog Columns Widths

Click on “Adjust widths”

Adjust Entire Blog Width

Adjust each Sidebar Width(s)
(if more than 1 column)

Click “Apply to Blog”



STEP #5: Return to Blogger

Click on “<< Back to Blogger”
